In my quest to get an electric car I looked at the option of getting a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). To see if this was a viable option for my home town, I went through Street View on Google Maps and marked all the 40 mph and faster streets in red, and the 35 mph and slower streets in blue. I found the hardest part was finding alternative routes to the places I visit regularly. There is also the problem of hills where an NEV would not be able to climb at a reasonable speed. This map is still a work in progress, but it is the first step when considering an NEV as a regular form of transportation in your neighborhood.
